I expect the stronger players of team white to make their first correction here. It's pretty universally considered bad for white to orient a 3-4 stone this way, making the approach at D5 so attractive. Maybe it's not so bad with the upper left being a 3-4 stone instead of a 4-4, but I still think it's disadvantageous.

Is it really worth it to correct this move so early in the game?

Maybe not, but white 4 here really works with black's plans of a large-scale framework. I think it's easily worth the couple points penalty.

There's really nothing wrong with the direction of white's Komoku. it does give black an ideal approach move, but some players like to play this way because of certain territorial or pincer reasoning. I've played this way for the last half year as white, (this move) and I've seen it in pro play.

My ideas for black's fuseki were meant to be hidden, as in, hidden, but I guess it doesn't matter at this stage. It's a shame for black if they use that plan now though.

With a similar idea, I think that W1 is more than 1 point better than "a".

I might spend 2 points to shift the opening into one that I like better, but I doubt it. Remember, "A tandem game is a random game."
